CPD was a trust founded by three Christian businessmen who saw the need to financially support Christian organisations that work to meet gaps in the provision of care for the disadvantaged, the overlooked and the marginalised who no one else is willing or able to meet. It’s part of a long history of concern held by Evangelical Christian Churches for those in such need.
Grants are usually made to those which fulfil the following criteria:-
Projects that have the Evangelical Christian Gospel at their heart. Only in exceptional circumstances do we help charities that have also been assisted by National Lottery funding.
From the very beginning the trust's objective was to turn "visions into reality". We look to contribute to the capital expenditure that will enable a charity to acquire or expand the premises that it needs to carry out its ministry. We particularly like to apply our gifts where that will enable the recipient charity to unlock other match funding. We rarely fund running costs, though we do want to ensure that any project we fund can demonstrate long term sustainability.
Occasionally we assist a church backed social care project so long as there is a demonstrable legal separation between the church and the care project. But generally we do not give money to churches, taking the view that a church's ministries should be funded by its own members
We look to fund those who operate mainly in the East Midlands counties of Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire and Leicestershire. Whilst we try not to require anything other than the broadest of use of funds given by us, we do appreciate ongoing contact from the charities that we assist so that we can see what has been achieved with our support. The heart of our vision is the extending of God’s love through health and/or social care initiatives run by local Christians in their local area.
If you believe that your charity meets all the above criteria you are welcome to make an initial approach for a grant from CPD Trust Fund. Applications should be made in the first instance in writing and sent to
the Secretary CPD Trust Fund, c/o Ellis-Fermor & Negus Solicitors, 2 Devonshire Avenue, Beeston, Nottingham, NG9 1BS and via email to [email protected] .
The application should set out sufficient details to show that the criteria are all met. We may then ask you to submit further information and/or attend a trustees' meeting to make a presentation. However if your application is not acknowledged within 3 months then you may assume that we have concluded that you do not meet our grant making criteria.
